Treatment for The Dark King

Treatment for The Dark King
In a far far away galaxy…A turning of the times comes to a halt for the holy warriors that pledged their lives to protect and serve the republic. A dark force is rising within the system and Master Zango has been sent with his assistant to track it down. He is known throughout the galaxy as Lord Malis and his range of suffering leaks deep within it. Some say he is can foresee the future, other say he is a God, and others like Master Zango say “It’s just a matter of time till I find him.” Lord Malis is an unknown figure in the galaxy as he fades in and out between the war never to be seen. Master Zango on the other hand is one of the galaxies best power-wielding swordsmen. He has been known never to retreat in battle and always to complete his mission. Now he mission is find and destroy Lord Malis, the republics only threat to regaining order throughout the galaxy…
“We found him Master Zango, He’s surrounded on planet Yaybaor” states the assistant. The tracking starship makes way to the hell-stricken planet. Meanwhile, a robed dark figure (Malis) is surrounded on the planet by troopers. “Don’t do anything stupid” states one of the troopers. The trooper approaches the gigantic figure standing him before him then is flung back. Malis retracts into a ball then a blast of energy brings the troopers to the ground. The starship lands and the gate opens up. The assistant and Zango make their way out to a smokey patch of land consumed with bodies of troopers lying down. “Master their all dead” the assistant says. “I sense he’s…” says Zango as a spinning saber flings into his assistant. Soon as Zango realizes it, Malis is right behind him, but it is too late. Zango wakes up in a dark bloody torture chamber. There his last moments of life are dealt by the now finally unveiled Malis.

Conceptual Process
In beginning the process for The Dark King, I had to figure out a story that was manageable but also impacting and worth-while. First the storyboards were to be made because they are what dictates to the entire process of creating this animation. I want this animation to be as highly realistic as possible with its drawing and especially with its backgrounds, which I think is possible. After making storyboards then comes a scheduling plan to get myself organized. Once I have set up an organized workload per week I think the first task I’m going to finish is getting all the backgrounds complete first. Since these backgrounds are intended to be as realistic as possible it is crucial that I get this done. The backgrounds will be pretty much stationary so I'll only have to make minor adjustments to loop them. Although, after the backgrounds I’m going to draw the characters, which I do not know how difficult they will be to draw. After using the bamboo tool for our rotoscope project, I’m assuming it will be hard. So I’m shooting for moderate to kind of realistic drawings with the characters. I’ve storyboarded it so the character do only what movement is necessary and usually only moving one direction, which will allow me to After Effect the toons easily. After all the drawings are complete with AE put in, the next part in the process is voiceovers which should be easy. I imagine there will be multiple takes with the voices, but generally V/O’s have never been a problem. The last part to the project is applying the necessary music/ sound effects. This I know will take some time and especially with the sound effects to create the most dynamic feel to the piece. Then after that it is only a matter of exporting everything to the proper formats. Then my favorite part, WATCH, WATCH, and re-WATCH.
